simple tags and calais auto tagger plugins don’t work well together

I’ve been looking at improving how I add tags to my blog posts, and I found 2 good plugins, which I thought would complement each other nicely… but they don’t work well together.

When I activate both with wordpress 2.5.1, I find some aspects of calais don’t appear, and certain other aspects of simple-tags will either no appear, or just refuse to work.

Its a little frustrating, as its difficult to pinpoint a consistent feature that always fails

But since I find Calais more useful, I’ll disable simple tags, and only activate if I need to organise my tags (which I actually don’t need to use much)

You might like to take a look at http://tagaroo.opencalais.com. This is another WordPress plugin for auto-tagging using Calais. We haven’t verified compatibility with simple tags – but it’s probably worth a shot.

Unfortunately – unlike Dan’s great plugin Tagaroo doesn’t do historical tagging – but it does provide suggested images from Flickr.
